MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The hard work of a team of Minnesota snow sculptors competing in China is starting to pay off.

Matt Seeley, who is blogging about the Minnesota Big Snow team’s trip, posted a few new pictures online on Wednesday.

The pictures showed their sculpture taking shape at the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival.

They’ve been working in eight-hour shifts for the last three days.

Seeley said it’s quite cold there; it’s been 10 degrees below zero, with a wind chill that makes it feel more like 25 degrees below.

The team will be competing with about 15 teams from around the world. The top prize money is $500, but it cost each of the guys about $3,000 in airfare just to get to China.

The Big Snow team’s trip was covered in a recent Finding Minnesota. They’ve competed in snow sculpting contests at the St. Paul Winter Carnival and others around the nation.
